Gazebos

Hardtop gazebo styles and roof types

A hardtop gazebo has a rigid roof panel instead of a fabric canopy, so it gives steady shade and sheds rain. Most of the gazebos on this page are hardtops, and some add a double roof, a second tier that lets hot air escape.

Some are wall-mounted lean-to styles that sit against a wall or house. Most models include netting to keep insects out and curtains for privacy and sun control.

Outdoor gazebo sizes for decks and patios

Outdoor gazebo sizes on this page run from 5x8 ft to 14x24 ft. A 10x10 or 10x12 ft frame fits a patio dining table with chairs, while 12x12 ft and larger frames suit a bigger dining group or a lounge area.

Measure the deck or pad first and leave a few feet clear around the frame so people can walk past. The 5x8 ft models are compact and work well over a bistro set or a pair of chairs.

Metal gazebo frames and wood options

A metal gazebo is the most common type here, with aluminum or steel frames that hold a hard roof without rotting. Aluminum is naturally rust-resistant, while steel can show rust if the finish chips, so touch up scratches early.

A few gazebos use solid wood or fir for a traditional look. Wood needs a fresh coat of sealer every year or two to hold its color outdoors.

Gazebo vs pergola: which gives more cover

A gazebo gives more cover than a pergola because it has a full roof, and most models here add netting and curtains for the sides. A pergola has an open slatted top that filters light instead of blocking it.

Choose a gazebo when you want rain protection and all-day shade, and a pergola when you want airy light over a seating area.

Small gazebo options with side shelves

A small gazebo, like the 5x8 ft models here, shades a bistro set or a pair of chairs on a compact patio. Select models add side shelves for drinks and plates, they have metal frames, and some have a double roof for ventilation.

Measure the spot with the furniture in place, and leave room to walk around the posts.
