A black storage bench with a seat on top and closed storage underneath, 42.5 inches wide, for an entryway or mudroom wall. The painted black finish sets off the distressed aluminum drawer pulls, which lend the piece a slightly vintage edge.

Drawers take the small stuff. Behind the enclosed doors go shoes, umbrellas or books, so the floor by the door stays clear. A removable velvet cushion, 2.2 inches thick, means you sit to put on shoes instead of crouching.
