This gray wood pergola has a sleek, modern grid on top, a simple shape that lets plants be the centerpiece. The open roof lets you grow grapes, ivy or morning glory overhead and sit under the leaves.

Fir wood posts, diagonal braces and beams reinforce the frame, and L-shaped metal plates and expansion screws are included. It measures 143.8 inches wide by 118 inches deep and stands 84.8 inches tall. That is about 9.8 by 12 feet. A tip from the instructions: keep screws at least 0.6 inches from the edge of a wood plate, or the plate can crack.

Construction: solid fir.
