Here is an umbrella base that looks like wood but holds like concrete. The square iron shell carries a heat-transfer wood grain print, and the inside is filled with concrete. The whole base weighs 57 pounds.

A stainless steel central post with adjustment knobs grips the umbrella pole, and its opening takes support poles from 32mm to 48mm. Brake-equipped wheels sit at the four corners, so you can roll it into position and lock it. It measures 17.7 inches square and 17.1 inches tall, a modest footprint for a balcony, garden or cafe patio. Some assembly is required.

Construction: concrete and steel frame.
