Metal frame mirror finishes

A metal frame stays thin and crisp, so the glass does most of the work. Gold is the warmest choice, from bright gold aluminum to brushed and aged gold iron. Black draws a hard outline against pale walls, silver and brushed silver stay cool and quiet, and aged bronze and aged silver frames suit traditional and vintage rooms. One windowpane mirror mixes black and gold in a grid.

Metal arch mirror sizes

Arched mirrors soften a wall of straight lines. Small arches at 20 by 30 and 24 by 32 inches fit over a single vanity or in a narrow entry, 30 by 36 and 30 by 40 inch arches cover a double sink or a wide console, and wide arches up to 39.6 by 35 inches suit the wall over a dresser, bench or sofa. Some add carved appliques or relief detail at the crown.

Framed metal mirrors in round shapes

Round mirrors run from a 16.1 inch gold accent mirror to 36 and 39 inch circles that anchor a dining wall or mantel. A 40 inch gold sunburst works as a statement piece. Two 36 inch round mirrors on slim iron frames can hang on the wall or stand on the floor and lean.

Metal framed mirrors for full length views

For a head to toe view, choose a mirror at least 58 inches tall. The arched full body mirrors are 24 inches wide and 58 inches tall, and the tallest pieces reach 61.8 to 74 inches, including leaning floor mirrors in black or aged gold for a bedroom corner. A black arched standing mirror is 28 inches wide and 74 inches tall.

How to hang a heavy metal mirror

Most of these use HD mirror glass, with tempered or shatterproof glass on select styles, and most have an engineered wood backing. Hang larger mirrors from two points into wall studs, or use anchors rated for at least twice the mirror's weight. Aluminum frames keep weight down; a 30 by 40 inch arch weighs about 15.5 lb. Dust frames with a dry cloth, and spray glass cleaner onto the cloth rather than the mirror.
