Rectangular patio dining table sizes

A rectangle seats more people in less depth than a round table, and it lines up neatly with a deck edge or a house wall. Fixed dining tables here run from 55 to about 75 inches long and 31.5 to 38.1 inches deep. For bigger gatherings, the extendable tables open up to 78.7, 82.7, 89, 94.5 or 106.3 inches long, enough for eight or more. Most stand about 28.4 to 30.4 inches tall, standard dining height.

Rectangular patio table with umbrella hole

Three tables have a center umbrella hole, including a 62.4 inch brown metal table and a black metal table with a slatted top that seats six and holds up to 500 lb. On tables without a hole, use a freestanding cantilever umbrella beside the table.

Rectangular outdoor patio table materials

Aluminum tables in black, gray and dark brown are light, do not rust and suit a pool deck. Solid wood tables come in natural, dark brown, dark gray and teak finish acacia, and one table sets a teak finish solid wood top on a beige powder-coated steel frame rated for 450 lb. A white polypropylene table on powder-coated legs wipes clean with a damp cloth.

Small rectangular patio table and bar tables

For a balcony, the bar tables stand 40 to 42.1 inches tall and only 25 to 31 inches deep: a teak finish acacia bar table, a dark gray solid wood bar table and a brown HDPE bar table. A 59.8 inch teak finish console table with a shelf works as a serving table against a wall.

Wash tops with mild soap and water, oil wood tables once a season and cover the table during long wet spells.

Frequently asked questions

What size patio umbrella do I need for a rectangular table?
A rectangular table needs an umbrella about 4 to 5 feet longer than the table so shade covers the chairs. A 55 to 60 inch table works with an 8 to 9 foot umbrella, and a 70 to 75 inch table with a 9 to 11 foot or rectangular umbrella. Check the umbrella pole fits the table hole.
What size patio umbrella fits a 6 person rectangular table?
A 6 person rectangular table, usually 60 to 72 inches long, needs an umbrella about 9 to 11 feet across, or a rectangular umbrella about 6.5 by 10 feet. That shades the table and most of each chair. The rectangular tables here with an umbrella hole include a 62.4 inch metal table.
How tall is a patio table?
A patio dining table is usually 28 to 30 inches tall, the same as an indoor dining table, while an outdoor bar table stands about 40 to 42 inches tall. The rectangular dining tables here stand about 28.4 to 30.4 inches tall, and the bar tables 40 to 42.1 inches tall.
How much space do you need for a patio table and chairs?
Allow about 36 inches between the table edge and any wall, railing or step so chairs can slide back, and about 24 inches of table length per person. A 72 inch rectangular table with chairs needs a space roughly 12 by 9 feet, and extendable tables need more when fully open.
How do you clean a patio table?
Clean a patio table with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft brush or sponge, then rinse and let it dry in the sun. Avoid bleach and scouring pads on aluminum and painted metal. On solid wood tables, wipe along the grain and apply outdoor wood oil once or twice a season.
