A raised lip runs around the edge of the top, with four pen holes drilled into each side of it. The lip stops books sliding off; the holes stop pens rolling. Neither is expensive to design and almost nothing has both.
Solid wood throughout, with two deep drawers that seal properly, and a shelf underneath the desk for boxes, folders and the things that would otherwise cover the surface. The top is 47.24 by 23.62 inches in a warm walnut tone. Tools and a clear manual are included.
